About the Author
Robert C. Feenstra is Professor of Economics at the University of California, Davis. He received his B.A. in 1977 from the University of British Columbia, Canada, and his Ph.D. in economics from MIT in 1981. Feenstra has been teaching international trade at the undergraduate and graduate levels at UC Davis since 1986, where he holds the C. Bryan Cameron Distinguished Chair in International Economics. Feenstra is a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, where he directs the International Trade and Investment research program. He is the author of Offshoring in the Global Economy and Product Variety and the Gains from Trade (MIT Press, 2010). Feenstra received the Bernhard Harms Prize from the Institute for World Economics, Kiel, Germany, in 2006, and delivered the Ohlin Lectures at the Stockholm School of Economics in 2008. He lives in Davis, California, with his wife Gail, and has two grown children: Heather, who is a genetic counselor; and Evan, who recently graduated from Pitzer College.

The electronic edition is worthless. In 2018 they can't manage to get a book that works well with a kindle on a laptop. A simple pdf would work fine but that can't be managed. They also make it difficult to get a refund. Pages do not display properly and the book is extremely bugged. Formatting text size doesn't help. Do not buy.
I'm sure this is a great textbook...but I can't read it. The ebook version is unusable, not optimized to work on the kindle app, they shouldn't even be offering that option. Pages are broken apart, many not even viewable, some you will get stuck on and be unable to turn the page. I wish I had to use this book in the first week I had purchased it so I could ask for a refund, but unfortunately I noticed too late. They should offer a refund to anyone that downloaded the ebook version, it's completely useless.
I used International Trade from the same Authors and I liked the book because I had a good instructor that would do numerical examples in class. I was happy when they assign this book to my new class, but now I do not have an instructor that explains the formulas with numerical examples and I am struggling at lot doing it on my own. I do not recommend the book for students that have to teach themselves. The literature makes sense but it lacks numerical examples ( I guess that is when the instructor comes in). I have a lot of homework assignments that require the use of the formulas but instructions from the book alone are not helping.
Had to purchase this for an intro Econ class. Both the book and the class were terrible. Would not recommend, but you're probably not looking at reviews if you're looking to buy this book.
Really nice book. It explains the material in a concise but thorough manner that makes it easy to read and learn a lot quickly. It also includes many real-world, historical evidence to back up what it is talking about.It would take about 10 minutes to skim-read the material that was covered in a 1 hour lecture. Then, of course, after lectures or before exams I could go back and focus on the material that was harder to pick up.
some pages are just blank and un usable
I had to buy this book for my class. It was twice as expensive if i bought it at the bookstore on campus!!!It was brand new and fast shipping!!! AWESOME!
The textbook covers a fair amount of content, and its presentation is strong involving lots of graphs and memory aids (excellent formatting including bullet points, boldface keywords, and chapter organization). There is an abundance of "real-life applications" where the concepts taught in the book are roughly applied to real life examples. The book is disappointingly sparse in worked examples, which holds it back somewhat.
